Legion Walk Off with Win
|
The Legion faced a stiff challenge from Seattle pitcher Ron Stone, but persevered to claim a win at Cloverdale Legion Park. The final score was 2-1. Stone went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Kingston Township, at 33-46, sits in 10th place in the Third League.
Alfredo Cardenas was the walk-off hero for Kingston Township. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Legion center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Cardenas told a Kingston Township Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
