Bowties Subdue New Amsterdam, 5-4

The Buckhead Bowties eked out a 5-4 win versus the New Amsterdam Dutchmen at 5 Paces Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Ron Manning, who captured player of the game honors. Ramón Torres was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 9 save opportunities. Buckhead, at 35-44, occupies 8th place in the Third League.
The Bowties beat the Dutchmen in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Freddy Carea produced in the bottom of the first. Batting against New Amsterdam pitcher Rusty Swanson, Carea gave his team a 3-0 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.
"It was a solid team effort," said Carea after the game.
