Hawks Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Stingers
|
Chicago and Toledo duked it out at Pacesetter Park and the Hawks came out victorious.
Jeff Simpson left his imprint on the 7-5 Chicago win against the Toledo Stingers. Simpson went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. Even with the win, the Hawks have a dismal 17-39 record.
Simpson had a game-changing single in the top of the eighth. On a 0-1 fastball from Ed Stark, he banged a 2-run single to right, giving the Hawks a 7-5 lead. It was the 58th hit of the year for Simpson.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Chicago manager Anthony Yaghmour.
