Houston designated hitter John Downing was instrumental in his team's 7-4 win over the Buckhead Bowties. Downing, who is tied for 2nd in the 3L in bases on balls with 36, went 2-3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the 1837 BBC. Earning his 11th save for Houston was Francisco García. Houston is now 19-29, Buckhead 21-27.

Downing had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a first pitch sinker from Ramón Torres, he banged a bases-clearing double to center, giving the 1837 BBC a 7-4 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Downing.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Downing.
