Hopper Slugs Gold Sox to 8-2 Win
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Dewitt Hopper, the Chicago Gold Sox defeated the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 8-2. Hopper belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Gold Sox. Gordon Neugebauer got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Alberto Mendoza picked up the save, his 2nd.

Hopper had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the third inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Gold Sox went on to win.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Gold Sox manager Brett Reichert. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."

The Gold Sox now have a record of 19-30 with the win over Northern Virginia.
