Despite a fine performance by left fielder Francisco García, the Phoenix Hotspur suffered a 4-3 loss to the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. García was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. David Hudson closed the game out for Northern Virginia, earning his 8th save. At 17-14, Northern Virginia is in 5th place in the Premier League.
Northern Virginia right fielder Rafael Sánchez changed the complexion of the game in the top of the seventh inning. That's when he belted a 3-run home run off Pablo De La Torre. His 2nd home run of the season put Northern Virginia in front, 4-3.
"Both teams played hard," said Northern Virginia manager David Lenlister.
