A nice crowd turned out to see the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and Austin Rangers clash at Rangers Stadium.
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids bested the Austin Rangers, 7-4, at Rangers Stadium. Arlen Joysey was named player of the game. He went 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Aurelio López picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 2 in 5 innings.
Rafael Sánchez helped out the Northern Virginia cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the right fielder went 1-4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Sánchez.
The win gives the Rainbow Mermaids a record of 3-0.
