Patriots Need Extra Frames to Get Past Gold Sox
|
The Boston Patriots overcame a good performance by Chicago left fielder Dewitt Hopper to knock off Chicago, 9-4, at Gold Sox Field. Hopper was 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Boston, now 2-1, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Karl Schultz had the most critical at-bat for Boston. With no one in the top of the tenth inning, Schultz hit a 0-1 cutter from Dan Crowder for a 3-run home run. It put Boston in front, 7-4.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Schultz.
