Legion Edge 1837 BBC, 1-0
|
The Kingston Township Legion did just enough to secure a 1-0 victory over the Houston 1837 BBC at Houston Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Shigemasa Horiuchi, who captured player of the game honors. Kingston Township reliever Yosuke Takahashi was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Francisco García. John Riggleman earned the save, his 7th, for the Legion.
The most important at-bat for Kingston Township came in the top of the tenth inning, when first baseman EP Weston stroked a first pitch cutter to center for a run-scoring single, putting Kingston Township up, 1-0.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Weston, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Legion improve their record to 13-19 with the win over Houston.
