Big Day by Icaza Sparks Legion Win
|
The Kingston Township Legion defeated the Houston 1837 BBC, 7-5. Earning player of the game honors was catcher José Icaza, who went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. John Riggleman sewed up the save, his 6th. Kingston Township, at 12-19, occupies 9th place in the Third League.
Icaza had a game-changing double in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch cutter from Francisco García, he banged a 2-run double to left-center, giving the Legion a 6-5 lead. It was the 1st double of the year for Icaza.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Icaza.
