Pandas Score Late, Upend Red Knights, 8-7
|
The Capital District Red Knights got a superb performance from shortstop Arnold Giroux. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Montana. The Pandas won the game, 8-7. In spite of the loss, Giroux was named the player of the game. He belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Montana reliever Ilie Paunescu picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. Oswaldo Mobray shouldered the loss. Montana is now 19-12, Capital District 12-19.
Chris McKinney was the walk-off hero for Montana. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pandas first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Nothing is scripted in this game," said McKinney.
