Pandas Get Close Win Over Oaks
|
The Pandas had to overcome a good performance from Oakland pitcher Mal Houser to claim a 3-2 win at Oakland Coliseum. Houser went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Montana reliever Ilie Paunescu got the win, raising his record to 3-3. Seb Alport was tagged with the loss. Ash Wooden finished the game for Montana and earned his 5th save.
Chris McKinney's at-bat in the top of the sixth inning was a big one for Montana. Coming to bat with two out, a runner on 3rd and Montana trailing 2-1, the first baseman hit a run-scoring single.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Montana manager Andrew Schupick said.
Montana, at 15-10, occupies 4th place in the Third League.
