Gold Sox Come Up Short at Northern Virginia
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids topped the Chicago Gold Sox, 4-3, in United States Premier League action at Atlantica. The player of the game was Northern Virginia pitcher Aurelio López. López got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 7 hits and walked 0 over 7.1 innings. López allowed 3 earned runs. David Hudson finished to wrap up his 6th save.
Brett Callison, who is tied for 8th in the PL with a .916 OPS, aided the Northern Virginia cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said López.
The win puts the Rainbow Mermaids at 13-11, while the Gold Sox drop to 8-16.
