Evergreens Get Road Win, 5-3
|
Portland Evergreens starter Roberto Calderón was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Toledo Stingers, 5-3. Portland reliever Shinzo Kumagai was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Bill Edmonds took the loss for Toledo. Portland is off to a hot start at 8-1.
Chris Payling had a productive at-bat for the Evergreens with no one out in the top of the ninth. With the bases empty, the center fielder reached on an error by the center fielder. The at-bat was important in the Portland win.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Payling said.
