Middies Stumble, Lose to Cattlemen
|
Rick Mayfield made an impact in the 8-3 Ft. Worth win over Grafton. Mayfield, who is on pace for 80 RBI this season, went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Juan Díaz got the win, improving to 8-7. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 3. The win puts the Cattlemen at 52-52, while the Middies drop to 55-49.
Mayfield had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the fifth inning, when he hit a run-scoring double. The Cattlemen went on to win.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Mayfield told the Ft. Worth Times.
