Middies Turn Back D.C., 7-6
|
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Mario Ramos, the Grafton Middies defeated the D.C. Divided, 7-6. Ramos was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Middies. Grafton reliever Francis Cahill got the win, raising his record to 4-1. Domingo Posadas was tagged with the loss. Grafton, at 50-45, sits in third place in the Silver League.
Ramos had a game-changing single in the bottom of the eighth. On a 3-1 fastball from Domingo Posadas, he banged a 2-run single to left, giving the Middies a 7-6 lead. It was the 128th hit of the year for Ramos.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Ramos said.
