Northern Virginia starter Ángel Navarro had a strong outing against the Wizarding Express at Platform 9 3/4. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. Navarro went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-1. David Hudson earned the save for Northern Virginia, his 5th of the year.
Chia-ch'ing Dodman had a big 2-run single for the Rainbow Mermaids in the top of the fourth inning. With Northern Virginia leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Kenny Koehler and stroked the single to right. It was his 9th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 5-1.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Navarro told the Northern Virginia Daily News.
The Express fall to 7-14 and continue their lackluster start to the 2029 season.
