Victory Over Herons Takes Springfield to 56-32
|
Springfield played host to Glendale at the friendly confines of Springfield Stadium.
Gerald Keller pitched a gem to lead Springfield to a 2-1 victory over the Glendale Herons. Keller got the win, improving to 8-8. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Keller allowed 1 earned run. Jim Unknown converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
Valera, Venezuela-born Javier Vásquez came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st and the Shooters trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run to right to put Springfield on top.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Springfield manager Jacob Green.
The first-place Shooters have won 5 in a row.
