Rails Deal Sonics Painful Loss
|
Atlantic City pitcher Bill Tugwell gave the Rails all they could handle, but in the end, Richland left Rails Ballpark with a 3-2 win. Tugwell allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 8 innings. Maxwell Simon got credit for the win, improving to 3-5. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. Richland is 8th in the Menard's AA with a record of 40-44.
Armando Peña was the walk-off hero for Richland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Richland third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
After the game, Richland manager Allen Bartlett applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
