Nationals Get Past Ft. Polk South for 6-3 Win
|
The Ottawa Nationals trumped the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 6-3, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Ottawa first baseman Jesús Mancía was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Neal Davis, credited with the win, is now 3-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Fernando Espinosa closed the game out for Ottawa, earning his 10th save.
The most important at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Tommy Rowe threw a 0-1 slider to Mancía, which he hit to right for a 2-run home run. It put Ottawa in front, 4-3.
Mancía told the Ottawa Bulletin: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
Today's win puts Ottawa at 33-49, while Ft. Polk South falls to 41-41.
