Springfield Shooters starter Song-saeng Kim turned in a sterling performance against the Richland Rails, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Picking up the save was Jim Unknown, his 1st. The Rails, now 37-35, have lost 5 in a row.
In the top of the second, Willis Kirkendall hit a 2-run home run for Springfield. The 10th home run of the season for the Springfield third baseman put the Shooters on top, 2-0.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Richland skipper Allen Bartlett, "and it cost us."
