The Richland Rails got a sterling performance from pitcher Juan Ordóñez, but the Herons still prevailed, 5-4. Ordóñez was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. The winner was Glendale reliever Nick Riviera, now 2-1. The loser was Maxwell Simon. After today's action, Glendale sits at 31-38, while Richland falls to 37-32.
The Herons were down to their final out when pinch hitter Álex Cordero turned a 0-1 fastball from Maxwell Simon into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the Heron Field crowd go wild.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Cordero said.
