The Virginia Beach Deuces got a strong performance from pitcher Stanley Eldrige, who stymied the Springfield offense en route to a 4-2 win at Springfield Stadium. Aurelio Ornelas closed it out for his 12th save. The Virginia Beach winning streak has now reached 6 games.
Alfonso Núñez contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the eighth. With the bases loaded, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat that helped Virginia Beach get the win.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Núñez told the Virginia Beach News.
