Sonics Take Down Ghosts, 5-2
|
The Atlantic City Sonics picked up a win at Sonics Ballpark, knocking off the Casper Ghosts, 5-2. Starting pitcher Elroy Thompkins played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Thompkins, now 5-5. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. The Sonics saw their record improve to 17-30.
Kevin Malone broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fourth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Sonics in front, 2-1. For the game, Malone went 3-3 with a triple and 2 singles.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Thompkins.
