Nationals Pin 9-6 Loss on Herons
|
The Ottawa Nationals and Glendale Herons obliged those fans who came to Heron Field hoping for an exciting game.
The Ottawa Nationals defeated the Glendale Herons, 9-6. Earning player of the game honors was center fielder Arsenio Laurel, who went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. Ottawa reliever Francisco Jiménez picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Ma Hon Keung absorbed the loss. Fernando Espinosa, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
Markus Thompson helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run home run to give Ottawa a 2-0 lead.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Ottawa manager Ron Mathews.
The Nationals saw their win-loss record go to 17-23. At the same time, the Herons fall to 16-24.
