Nationals Cut Down Rails, 6-3
|
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Ottawa fans at Nationals Park.
The Ottawa Nationals defeated the Richland Rails, 6-3. Earning player of the game honors was right fielder Duane Wills, who was 3-3 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 times. Fernando Espinosa closed the door for Ottawa, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
Wills came through with some timely hitting for Ottawa. With the score 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth and one down, Wills hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was his 6th double of the season -- and a big reason the Nationals managed to win.
Wills told the Ottawa Bulletin: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
Their 15-21 record puts the Nationals 10th in the Menard's AA.
