Bello Shines in Grasshoppers Win
|
With catcher Edgardo Bello leading the charge, the San Bernardino Grasshoppers defeated the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 7-4, at Field of the Grasshoppers. Bello, who is tied for 3rd in the 3AA in bases on balls with 22, went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Dan McBride earned the win to go to 2-1. He allowed 3 earned runs on 11 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Bob Roth earned the save for San Bernardino, his 5th of the year.
When the Grasshoppers needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Bello who delivered. Facing Ft. Polk South pitcher César Vásquez the bottom of the fourth with the bases loaded, Bello hit his 4th home run of the year. It made the score 7-2.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Bello told the San Bernardino Gazette.
The 'W' lifts San Bernardino's record to 15-12.
