The Springfield Shooters picked up a win at Springfield Stadium, knocking off the Richland Rails, 4-3. On the mound for Springfield was right-hander Ken Aldridge, who played a pivotal role in the win. Springfield reliever Ernst Chia picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Russ Melton shouldered the loss. The Springfield Shooters have an impressive 17-9 record.

Guillermo Castro was the walk-off hero for Springfield. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Springfield right fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

Richland manager Allen Bartlett said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
