Evergreens Rally For Late Win Over Hawks
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Eddie Ménard, the Portland Evergreens defeated the Chicago Hawks, 5-3. Ménard was 4 for 4 with 3 doubles for the Evergreens. Fernando Ramírez got the save, the 14th for him this season. Portland now owns a record of 27-39.
The Portland triumph was a team effort. It included several important contributors, Silvio Bonauiti not least among them. In the bottom of the eighth, the Portland left fielder came to bat and hit a 2-run double. It staked his team to a 5-3 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Ménard told the Portland News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
