Continentals Fall Short, 8-5, at Marquette
|
The Marquette Miners picked up a win at Marquette Stadium, knocking off the Chesapeake Continentals, 8-5. Starting pitcher Luis Ortíz was an essential part of his team's success. Ortíz got the win, improving to 10-8. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Ortíz allowed 4 earned runs. Addick Lubbers recorded his 25th save for Marquette.
Ramón Hernández was a key contributor to the win for the Miners. In the bottom of the sixth with no one out, the light-hitting second baseman stroked a double to right. He was 1-2 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
