In a tight contest at Marquette Stadium, the Irving Blue Sox edged the Marquette Miners by the score of 5-2. The Irving Blue Sox's right fielder Ron Peterson, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Irving reliever Gilberto Ramírez was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Luis Ortíz took the loss for Marquette. Getting the save was Jon Schultz, his 5th.
Also doing his part was right fielder Jim Unknown, who stroked a 2-run single in the top of the first for Irving. For the game, Unknown went 1-4. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Unknown told the Irving News.
The Blue Sox go to 58-35, putting them second in the Silver AA.
