Ghosts Take Down Rapiers, 6-2
|
The Casper Ghosts did just enough to secure a 6-2 victory over the Durham Rapiers at The Graveyard. Nobody did more than pitcher Valentín Robles, who captured player of the game honors. Robles got the win, improving to 4-10. He allowed 5 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Robles allowed 2 earned runs. The 9th-place Ghosts raised their record to 34-59.
With runs few and far between, the Ghosts had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Casper came in the bottom of the fourth. That's when right fielder Manny Maltby delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Michael Logan and made the score 2-1, Ghosts. Maltby was 3-4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Robles.
