Phoenix Hotspur Wins, Fierro hits 15th home run
|
Roberto Fierro added some punch to the Phoenix Hotspur offense, helping them outmuscle the Bethesda Atoms, 19-7. In the game, Fierro, who is tied for 2nd in the SAA in stolen bases with 27, was 2-3 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Titus Parson picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-2. He struck out 9 in 6 innings. Phoenix Hotspur is in 5th place in the Silver AA with a record of 51-41.
The 24-year old left fielder Leroy Rijerkerk tried to rally his team in the top of the third inning. With the bases loaded and Bethesda trailing 7-1, Rijerkerk hit a 2-run single. But that was all she wrote for Phoenix Hotspur. "Rijerkerk had a nice at-bat," said manager David Márquez. "Otherwise, we had a shortage of hits when it counted."
