Chesapeake starter Javier Mena pitched effectively against the Durham Rapiers at Chesapeake Grounds. The right-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. The winning pitcher was Mena, now 8-5. He tossed 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Fabian Thul closed the door for Chesapeake, picking up his 12th save of the year.

In the bottom of the third inning, shortstop Lionel McCloud came through big-time for the Continentals. With Chesapeake leading 1-0, he belted a 3-run home run.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Chesapeake Continentals manager José Flores.

The win puts the Continentals at 41-47, while the Rapiers drop to 49-39.
