Atoms Lose to Rapiers in Walk Off
It was a fun time at Rapiers Ballpark, where the Bethesda Atoms and Durham Rapiers tangled.

The Durham Rapiers topped the Bethesda Atoms by the score of 5-4, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder Rick Mayfield. Mayfield went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI for the Rapiers. Durham reliever Jim Unknown was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Ashweather Cett.

Carlos Méndez was the walk-off hero for Durham. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Durham catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
