Farmers Get One-Run Win at Phoenix Hotspur

"Getting ahead of the hitters is the key," said López.
The Lancaster Farmers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Santiago López, who muffled the Phoenix Hotspur offense en route to a tight 3-1 Farmers win at Grenadiers Ballpark. López, now 3-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Picking up the save was Jim Unknown, his 1st.
Lancaster took the lead in the top of the sixth on a big hit from Pedro Torres. On a full count fastball from Loeck Visser, Torres hit a run-scoring single. That made it 2-1, Farmers. For the day, Torres was 2-4 with a double.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," López told the Lancaster Herald.
The 7th-place Farmers now have a win-loss record of 32-34.
