Loss to Rapiers Extends Casper Losing Streak
|
Durham right-hander Ramón Castaneda made an effective start against the Casper Ghosts at Rapiers Ballpark, leading his team to a 3-1 win. Castaneda, now 7-3, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 4, and allowing 1 earned run. Jim Unknown earned the save for Durham, his 1st of the year.
Also pitching in was Durham right fielder Rick Mayfield, who hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, Mayfield went 1-4 with a home run.
Castaneda said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
Casper is trying to get off the schneid, having lost 7 in a row.
