Ghosts Raise Rally Flag, Beat Marquette, 3-2
|
Marquette Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Casper Ghosts and the Marquette Miners.
The Ghosts grabbed a 3-2 win at Marquette Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Marquette pitcher Gabriel Escobar. Escobar went 7 innings and allowed no earned runs. Earl Simmons picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-3. He struck out 3 in 7.1 innings. Jim Unknown closed the door for Casper, picking up his 1st save of the year.
In the top of the 8th, pinch hitter Spencer Landes gave Casper the lead when he hit a 3-run home run. The Ghosts had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out home run off Marquette pitcher Bartolo Medina changed that -- and Casper went on to win.
Said Casper manager Joe Young: "I tell our guys all the time: 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction.'"
Casper now sits in 9th place in the Silver AA at 18-33.
