Miners Fall to .500 After Loss to Continentals
|
The Chesapeake Continentals did just enough to secure a 7-6 victory over the Marquette Miners at Chesapeake Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Obadiah Small, who captured player of the game honors. In 7.1 innings, Small surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 4. He allowed 3 runs. The Miners drop to 8-8 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2026 season.
Lionel McCloud, the Chesapeake shortstop, contributed a 2-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 6-3, Continentals. For the game, McCloud was 3-5 with a triple and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Obadiah is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Chesapeake manager José Flores.
