Rangers Pull Back to Even with 6-2 Victory
|
The Austin Rangers scored a 6-2 win versus the Ft. Worth Cattlemen at Rangers Stadium. Austin pitcher Juan Valéncia nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. In 6.2 innings, Valéncia surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. With the win over Ft. Worth, the Rangers improved to 44-44.
Jesús Reyes was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Austin. The 25-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Nicholas Wells. It was his 70th RBI of the season.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Reyes said.
