Renaissance Hang 3-1 Loss on Republics
|
The Detroit Renaissance went home winners at Detroit Field, thanks in large part to starter Alejandro Arteaga. Arteaga silenced the New Amsterdam Republics, enabling Detroit to grab the 3-1 win. Arteaga got the win, improving to 7-5. He allowed 7 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. Arteaga allowed 1 earned run. Lyle Lanley finished the game for Detroit and earned his 10th save.
Tallahassee, Florida-born Eric D'Angle came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded and the Renaissance trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run double to left to put Detroit on top.
"We were in it," said New Amsterdam manager Sal Gaudio. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The Renaissance go to 54-33, putting them third in the Division II.
