With right fielder John Burton leading the charge, the New Amsterdam Republics defeated the Wizarding Express, 11-3, at Dutch Master Park. Burton, who is the top prospect in the Republics organization, was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Andy Coker earned the win to go to 3-11. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. The 'W' lifts New Amsterdam's record to 27-56.
Edmond, Oklahoma-born Hank Wilder came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 3rd and the Republics trailing 2-1, he hit a 3-run home run to center to put New Amsterdam on top.
"It feels good to get this one," Wilder told the New Amsterdam Herald.
