Hotspur Stun 1837 BBC, 3-2
|
Wes Hamm was superb against Houston. Hamm, who is tied for 2nd in the SL in strikeouts with 104, had a slider that was virtually unhittable at times. The winner was Phoenix reliever Jaime van de Weideven, now 7-1. The loser was Marvin Martin. Phoenix goes to 54-21. The win puts them 5 games up in their division.
In the top of the 9th, the Hotspur grabbed the lead on a two-out double by Shojiro Ueda. Phoenix at the time was trailing 2-1, but Ueda's 2-run double off Marvin Martin put his team in front.
Said Phoenix manager Michael Esposito: "I tell our guys all the time: 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction.'"
