Middies Bang Out 7-2 Win Versus Chicago
The Grafton Middies picked up a win at Field of the Middies, knocking off the Chicago Gold Sox, 7-2. Starting pitcher Wayne Hurst played a key role in the triumph. Domingo Álvarez finished the game for Grafton and earned his 1st save. Grafton has now won 3 straight, while the Gold Sox have lost 3 in a row.

In the bottom of the 6th, right fielder Dave Ash gave Grafton the lead when he hit a bases-clearing double. The Middies had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out double off Chicago pitcher Eric Newell changed that -- and Grafton went on to win.

Hurst attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
