Middies Saddle Rangers with 6-3 Loss
|
Grafton Middies starter Wayne Hurst pitched a strong game against the Austin Rangers at Rangers Stadium, leading the Middies to a 6-3 win. In 7.2 innings, Hurst surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Lynwood Matos finished to wrap up his 10th save.
Wes Bradley aided the Grafton cause with a bases-clearing triple in the top of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter went 2 for 4 with a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
In postgame comments, Bradley told the Grafton News: "Do people still doubt I give 100%?"
At 17-18, the Middies find themselves in 5th place in the Division II.
