Cattlemen Go Down to Defeat, 6-4
|
The Grafton Middies defeated the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 6-4, at The Cattle Pen. Grafton second baseman Pedro Santos was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Lynwood Matos nailed down his 9th save. The win puts the Middies at 16-17, while the Cattlemen drop to 14-19.
Carlos Maldonado, who is the 3rd-best prospect in the Middies organization, aided the Grafton cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the first. For the game, the shortstop drew 2 walks in 4 trips to the plate.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Maldonado told the Grafton News. "It's as simple as that."
