Abe Shines in 1837 BBC Win
|
The Houston 1837 BBC downed the Chicago Gold Sox, 10-4, at Gold Sox Field. Kumanosuke Abe led the way, going 2-for-4 for Houston. Greg White was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. At 18-14, Houston is in 4th place in the Division II.
One important at-bat came with the bases loaded in the top of the second. That's when Alberto Torres, who is tied for 7th in the SL in doubles with 8, got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run. The 1837 BBC went on to win.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Abe.
