Middies Get Past Chicago for 2-1 Win
|
The Grafton Middies got a magnificent performance from pitcher Allen Yohemas, who muffled the Chicago offense en route to a tight 2-1 Middies win at Field of the Middies. Grafton reliever Lynwood Matos picked up the win to move to 2-0. Gordon Fry suffered the loss. The 5th-place Gold Sox have dropped 8 straight games.
Dave Ash was the walk-off hero for Grafton. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Grafton right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We did just enough to win," said Ash.
