Hotspur Continue Hot Start to Season with Win
|
The Phoenix Hotspur grabbed a 7-5 win over the New Amsterdam Republics at Chase Field. Phoenix shortstop Martín Martínez was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Scott William got the save, the 9th for him this season. The Hotspur, at 20-7, lead by one game in their division.
Also making an impact was right fielder Albert González, who drilled a double in the bottom of the second for Phoenix. For the game, González was 2-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs.
"It wasn't our best performance," said González, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
