Gold Sox Clip Rangers in Tight Contest
|
Behind a solid performance from right fielder Melvin Castro, the Chicago Gold Sox defeated the Austin Rangers, 4-3. Castro went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Gold Sox. Juan Júlio was the winner. Over 8 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Augusto Dávila.
The most important at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Júlio Rodríguez threw a 1-0 fastball to Castro, which he hit to right for a 2-run home run. It put Chicago in front, 4-3.
"Some wins are easy, some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Castro told the Chicago Citizen.
The win lifts Chicago to a record of 8-9.
